The increasing discharge of dyes into the environment and their consequential ecological effects has necessitated need for ecofriendly decolourization methods. Laccases became enzymes research interest due to broad substrates specificities. aim study was purify, characterize determine ability Curvularia lunata SS17 produced laccase. Laccase using maize cob as substrate under optimized culture conditions purified Gel Filtration Chromatography. Biuret method then used estimate protein contents crude partially Specific activities, purification fold yield (%) laccase enzyme were also estimated. Decolourization potentials evaluated four namely: Congo red, Methylene blue, Bromocresol green direct yellow. Elution profile revealed that fraction 5 had highest activity (3.654 U/mL). Optimum estimated be 35oC pH 6. Enzyme U/mL) observed higher than (1.635 Also, specific (1.87 U/mg) compared (0.41 U/mg). Higher percentage dye potential Increase in by well incubation time proceeds.
